Mercer Closes out Regular Season with 12-7 Win vs Cecil

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (29-20) closed out the regular season with a 12-7 win vs Cecil College (10-38). Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) went 2 for 3 with two home runs and 3 RBIs and sophomore Dylan Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 2 for 3 with a double, triple, and 3 RBIs. 

 

Sophomore pitcher Colin Bernhard (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) had five strikeouts in four innings in his fourth win of the season.  Sophomore reliever Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) got his seventh save of the season.

 

Sophomores Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) and Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshmen Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and Joey Socorro (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford HS) all had an RBI in the win.

The Vikings next play in the double elimination Region 19 Tournament which begins May 10th.  Mercer will be hosting and enter as the #1 seed.

 

Mercer Holds Off Cecil 6-5

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (28-20) held off Cecil College (10-37) in Game 1 of their doubleheader 6-5.  Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 2 for 4 with a triple and RBI and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) went 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Freshman Don Gallagher (Stockton, NJ/South Hunterdon) had a double and RBI and sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each added an RBI in the win.

 

Freshman pitcher Matteo Mannino (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) had six strikeouts in four innings and sophomore Ryan Mignogna (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame) struck out two in three innings for his third win of the season.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (29-21) lost to Brookdale (36-7-1) 11-13.  Sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) had a triple and 2 RBIs and freshman Joey Socorro (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford HS) added 2 RBIs in the loss.  Freshman Don Gallagher (Stockton, NJ/South Hunterdon) went 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 RBIs.

 

Sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham), Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each had an RBI in the loss.  Freshman pitcher Collin Williams (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) and sophomore pitcher Vincent Mazzilli (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Regional) each had four strikeouts in three innings in the loss.

 

The Vikings have their final regular season game on Thursday, May 2nd at 1:00 PM vs Cecil College (10-36).

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (27-20) lost to County College of Morris (26-12) 6-8 in seven innings.  Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) went 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs and RBI and sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) had a double and RBI.

 

Sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Dylan Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshmen Don Gallagher (Stockton, NJ/South Hunterdon) and Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) each all had an RBI in the loss.

Mercer Loses Game 2 of Doubleheader vs Harford 1-9

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (29-19) dropped Game 2 of their doubleheader vs Harford CC (43-9) 1-9.  Sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) had the Vikings lone RBI of the game.  Freshman pitcher JJ Casey (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor South) allowed no earned runs and had two strikeouts in three innings of relief work.  Sophomore pitcher Colin Bernhard (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) allowed no earned runs and struck out three in four innings in the loss.

 

The Vikings next host County College of Morris (25-12) in a 12:00 PM game on Saturday, April 27th.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (29-18) lost to Harford CC (42-9) 1-8 in Game 1 of their doubleheader.  The Vikings managed just three hits in the game.  Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had the Vikings lone RBI.

 

Mercer Sweeps Cecil with 6-5 Win in Game 2 of Doubleheader

North East, MD-Mercer baseball moved to 29-17 following a 6-5 Game 2 win at Cecil College (10-30) in a doubleheader.  Sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 RBIs and sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had a double and RBI.  Sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) added an RBI in the win. 

 

Sophomore pitcher Dylan Parsons (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton West) allowed just one earned run over five innings in his second win of the season.  Sophomore reliever Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) got his sixth win of the season.

North East, MD-Mercer baseball (28-17) beat Cecil College (10-29) 20-0 in five innings in Game 1 of their doubleheader.  Sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had a home run and 4 RBIs and sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBIs.  Sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 3 for 4 with a double, home run and 3 RBIs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBIs.

Sewell, NJ-Mercer baseball (27-17) lost to #2 ranked RCSJ-Gloucester (34-7) 2-14 in seven innings.   Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had a home run and 2 RBIs and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 3 for 4 in the loss.  Sophomore pitcher Vincent Mazzilli (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Regional) allowed no earned runs in 1.2 innings of relief.

Mercer Splits Doubleheader vs Raritan Valley with 3-2 Win in Eight Innings

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (27-16) split their doubleheader vs Raritan Valley (14-14) with a 3-2 win in eight innings.  Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) was 1 for 2 with a triple and 2 runs. 

 

Sophomore pitcher Ryan Mignogna (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame) had three strikeouts and allowed just one earned run over five innings.  Sophomore reliever Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) allowed no hits and just one earned runs in three innings in his third win of the season.

 

The Vikings next travel to #3 ranked RCSJ-Gloucester (29-5) for a 3:30 PM game on Tuesday, April 23rd at 3:30 PM.

 

Mercer Drops Game 1 of Doubleheader vs Raritan Valley 4-6

Mercer Gets 16-3 Win at Raritan Valley

Branchburg, NJ-Mercer baseball moved to 26-15 on the season following a 16-3 win at Raritan Valley.  Sophomore Andrew Glatt (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown HS) had a home run and 6 RBIs and sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 doubles.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBIs and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 2 with a double, RBI and 3 runs.

 

Freshman pitcher Matteo Mannino (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) had three strikeouts in seven innings in his sixth win of the season.  Sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) went 2 for 4 with a double, RBI and 2 runs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) added an RBI in the win.

Scranton, PA-Mercer baseball (25-13) lost Game 2 of their doubleheader at Lackawanna (17-18) 1-5.  The Vikings managed just four hits in the game.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) went 1 for 2 with a home run and RBI.  Sophomore pitcher Dyllon King (Old Saybrook, CT/Cheshire Academy) had five strikeouts in five innings and allowed just one earned run in the loss.

Scranton, PA-Mercer baseball (25-12) beat Lackawanna (16-18) in Game 1 of their doubleheader 11-2.  Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) had two hits and two RBIs.  Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had 2 RBIs and sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 2 for 3 with three runs and an RBI.

Media, PA-Mercer baseball moved to 26-12 following a 20-0 shutout at Delaware County CC (1-13) in five innings.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs, 3 runs and a double and sophomore Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs, 2 runs and a double.  Sophomore Dylan Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs, a double, triple and 2 runs and sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs and a double.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (22-12) beat Lackawanna College (16-17) 5-3.  Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) went 3 for 4 with a double and 4 RBIs and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Freshman Matteo Mannino (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) got his fifth win of the season, going eight innings for the Vikings.  Sophomore reliever Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) got his fifth save of the season.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) went 3 for 4 in the win.

Newton, NJ-Mercer baseball moved to 17-10 following a 13-3 win at Sussex CCC (10-8).  Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had two hits and two RBIs in the win.  Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had 2 RBIs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had a double and RBI.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (16-10) lost to RCSJ-Gloucester (20-4) 4-12 in nine innings.  RCSJ-Gloucester is currently the top ranked team in NJCAA Division III Baseball.  The Vikings got within one run in the fifth 4-5 before the Roadrunners offense scored six runs over the next two innings.

 

Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had a home run and RBI and sophomore Andrew Glatt (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown HS) went 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each added an RBI in the loss.  Sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 3 for 3 in the loss and sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) each had two hits in the losing effort.

The Vikings were held to just two hits in the game with freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) providing the only Mercer RBI of the game.  Sophomore closer Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) picked up his first save of the season in the win.

Mercer baseball moved to 2-0 on the season following a 13-5 win over Suffolk CCC (0-6) in Game 2 of their doubleheader.  The Vikings rallied for eight runs in the fourth inning after being tied 4-4 after two innings.

 

Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had a big day at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double, triple and 4 RBIs and sophomore Evrin Virola (Edison, NJ/Edison HS) went 2 for 3 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs.
